Family Weekend was a blast! I don't know if any of you went, but they did a great job this year with the Centennial theme. Friday night was a lot of fun; you could dunk people in different fraternities and pie the Theta Phi girls in the face. There was also this game you could play...it was like paintball but with Nerf darts. You held up this giant gun and had to load every shot in one at a time. The object of the game was to not be shot, and you had to hide behind inflatable obstacles. I only played once. I was the last person left on my team, which meant that I was ganged up on by the others and was shot in the head. But it was fun nonetheless.
This whole weekend was full of sports wins for Rockhurst. I'm pretty sure we won every single game that we played. The Kansas City Chiefs are also surprising everyone with a 3-0 record. They are famous for sucking big time when it comes to football, but apparently they got their act together this summer and are now kicking serious butt. I wish I could say the same about the Dallas Cowboys. Being from Texas, you have two requirements: 1) Watch football (high school, college and pro) and 2) Be a Cowboys fan. If you don't fulfill those, you might as well leave the state before they kick you out. The Cowboys, unfortunately, are 1-2. But it's okay. The only reason non-Texans watch the game is for their cheerleaders anyway.
Midterms are coming up, and with midterms you have a plethora of students studying. Having a Fall Break is nice, though, especially because I haven't gone home yet. My mom came up for Family Weekend, but I stayed here for Labor Day. Gas costs so much money when you drive 500 miles one way. If I didn't have a car I could pretty much pay for my textbooks instead.
Classes are going, more or less. I have 3 tests in a period of 2 days, one of them is a midterm, so I've been studying a lot lately. Hopefully I won't have that many before Fall Break because of it.
Movie time! The Town came out this week, and surprised everyone with a 94%, which is surprising because it seems that almost every movie Ben Affleck does without Matt Damon is doomed. Easy A also came out, and received 85%; not bad for a teen flick with an interesting literary twist. So far, The Social Network has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It just opened, so more reviews are to come, but the couple dozen critics have raved about it thus far. When I saw the trailer I was skeptical at first, seeing the already rich creators of Facebook milking their story for more money by playing the pity card, but apparently it has something to it. I just might go see it.
Have a great Fall Break everyone! Good luck with midterms!
