Spring break 2010!

I'm going to be happy to be going home for break. As usual, the drive will be 8-9 hours, and my fingers are crossed for good travel weather. I cannot drive in snow or ice, period. I'm a Texan, not a Missourian.

All my friends at UT and A&M have their spring break the week after, so I'll be driving down to visit them while they still have school. I have doctor appointments like most people (dentist, etc.), and my family and I are planning to go see "The Phantom of the Opera" on stage at Fair Park (that's where the Texas State Fair takes place).

For Easter Break I'm going to fly up to Chicago, where my older sister lives. I absolutely love Chicago, it's an amazing city. I hope to go back this summer to see Lollapalooza. It's one of the best concert conglomerates in the nation, in my opinion. I'm still waiting for the lineup to come out. Last year they had some great bands play: Depeche Mode, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snoop Dogg, The Decemberists, Of Montreal, Ben Folds, Asher Roth, etc. I'm really hoping to make the one in 2010.

So for my Spanish class, we had to go to the library downtown and take a gander at this photography exhibit called "Nosotras" meaning we/us in the feminine tense. Turns out the library parking lot has this awesome wall art on it:

I think that has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Well I saw Shutter Island finally. It was really creepy but in a really good way. Having read the book, I can say that the movie was an excellent adaptation of it. It was almost completely correct, just a few things missing. If you haven't seen it yet but are going to, let me tell you, be prepared to jump in your seat a few times. The sound effects are very loud at very creepy moments.

The Oscars are this Sunday!! Here are my predictions:
Best Picture: Avatar (as much as I don't want it to win, I'd prefer The Hurt Locker or Inglourious Basterds, but those probably won't win)
Best Actor in a Lead Role: Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Cristoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds
Best Actress in a Leading Role: Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: None of them are that good, so I have no idea.
Best Animated Film: Up (definitely going to win)
Best Director: Either James Cameron for Avatar or Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker

Those are really the ones that hold the most weight. We'll see if I'm right!

Have a great spring break everyone!
